NMIA Team Traces Two Bodies From Paldor
|
| |
A
strong team of Nepal Mountain Instructor’s Association (NMIA) and
Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA) has traced the
bodies of two French Mountaineers from the slopes of Ganesh Himal (Paldor).
Four French mountaineers went missing when an expedition to Ganesh
Himal (Paldor) was hit by an avalance on October 2006.
|
|
|
The search operation found 2 bodies near the Sanjung Glacier
(4900m) at the feet of Ganesh Himal. Similarly, some parts of the
body were found on the surface of the big avalanche debris. They
probably feel down 1,000m from the slopes of Ganesh Himal to the
Sanjung Glacier. Upon the
request of the family members, the recovered bodies and parts were
cremated under a Chhorten with a plate bearing the name of the
deceased. The four mountaineers have been identified as Jean-Baptiste
Moreau (31), Raphael Perrissin (31), Vincent Villedieu (33) and
Stefan Cieslar (37). |
NMIA
had launched the search operation as per the request of the family
members of the missing mountaineers. An eight member search team led
by Lakpa Norbu Sherpa had searched the area from 23rd of June to 10th
of July. Other members of the search expedition were: Lakpa Sherpa,
Jymchang Bhote, Lambabu Sherpa, Dorjee Lama, Pemba Gyalze Sherpa and
Keshav Gurung. Jean Coudray, Veteran French Guide and mountaineering
