Memory Chorten of Nil Prasad Gurung.:

 

 

Under the coordination of NMIA, the memory chorten of late Nil Prasad Gurung is established in Makalu region , with the financial cooperation from Yves Pollet Villard Foundation of France (YPVF), Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA), Mr. Pemba Sherpa (MD) Expes.com and Base camp Trekking Pvt. Ltd.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sagarmatha (Everest ) Award 2009.:

On the occasion of Everest Day 2009, the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation handed over Sagarmatha National (Everest) Award to Mr. Pemba Gyalze Sherpa (mountaineer- Instructor) for his invaluable effort to rescue 2 mountaineers from Mount K2. in the same occasion he received the award from UAAA. .

 

Everest 2009.:

Congratulation to our Instructor-Aspirant Guide, Mr. Mulal Gurung for his first ever ascent on Mount Everest on 22nd May 2009, On be half of NMIA, We wish him every success in the field of Alpinism.

 

Yet again our Instructors Mr. Jymchang Bhote on 19th May 09 (exe.Member), Tshering Pande Bhote on 19th May 09 (Secretary NMIA) and Pasang Sherpa (Member) on 21st May, successfully Sumitted Mt.Everest, we wish them all the best in the field of Mountaineering.

 

International Glacier Mass Balance Monitoring Course.:

NMIA assist Regional Training Course on `Glacier Mass Balance Monitoring` held in Yala North Glacier in Langtang from: 27th April-15th May 2009.

 

 

There are 26 participants from 8 Nation, The course is organized by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) International Center for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) International Association of Cryospheric Sciences ( IACS ) and Nepal National Committee, Mr.Ngawang Ngima Sherpa assist the safety and Guiding for the International participants during the Glacier Research course.

 

Crevasse doctor for Island Peak.:

NMIA equipped the crevasse ladder above 5880 mtr in Island Peak for safety of the climbers on the request received from Nepal Mountaineering Association.

High Mountain Rescue Training 2009 completed- 29 March.:

Nepal Mountaineering Instructors' Association (NMIA) conducted High Mountain Rescue Training with the cooperation of Nepal Mountaineering Association, Yves pollet villard Foundation Of France, Embassy of French Republic and IFFRIMONT of France. From 10-30 March, 2009 at Kathmandu and Langtang.

 

This training is completed under the First Aid, Medical supervision of Dr. Pascal Le Nabat, Representative from IFFRIMONT, Instructor of NMIA Mr. Ngawang Ngima Sherpa, Tendi Sherpa and Tulsi Gurung. The trainees are 6 gents with 3 ladies participated in the course.

 

YPVF-NMIA Instructors Course & Instructors Refreshment Course 2008.:

NMIA and Yves Pollet Villard Foundation of France (YPVF), Jointly Organized a first ever Mountaineering Instructors Course and 3rd term Instructors refreshment course. The course will be carry out in Chamonix, France. from: - 14TH of July to 4th of September, 2008. Also the press meeting is held in NMIA central office on, 14th of July, 2008, to inform about objectives of the course.

All the logistic, Transportation and Instructors for the course is borne by YPVF, beside on behalf of NMIA, we would like to thanks French Embassy for the cooperation and providing a Gratis Visa for our trainees & Instructors.

 

6th ANNUAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY & NMIA ELECTION 2008.:

6th annual general assembly of Nepal Mountaineering Instructor's Association was held on 9th June at NMIA head office Gairidhara, Kathmandu, Nepal.

 

The Election was held after ward under the 3 member election judicial commission, Lawyer Surya Gurung assist by Mr. Lakpa Kitar Sherpa and Mr. Dorji Lama Sherpa.

 

Mr. Ngawang Ngima Sherpa has been anonymously elected as the President. Like wise Mr. Da Gombu Sherpa is the Immediate Past President (IPP).

 

Similarly Mr. Ang Norbu Sherpa (1st Vice President), Miss. Pasang Lhamu Sherpa (2nd Vice President), Mr. Shree Maharajan (General Secretary), Mr. Tshering Pande Bhote (Secretary), Mr. Krishna Bahadur Gurung (Treasurer), Mr. Jyamchang Bhote (Executive Member), Mr. Prem Bahadur Gurung (Executive Member), Mr. Tendi Sherpa (Executive Member), Mr. Lam Babu Sherpa (Executive Member), and Mr. Lakpa Sherpa (Executive Member). The elected newly executive board period will be until June 2008 to 2011 A.D.

 

Award Received.:

Nepal Mountaineering Association (The National Alpine Association) Awarded the Kumar Khadga Bikram Adventurous Award (Golden Ice Axe) 2007 to NMIA for there invaluable contribution and involvement in Rescue & Search operation in different incident since 2004.

 

Liaison Officer open for Mountaineers.:
Those who successfully summited Mt.Everest or Those who scaled 8000 meter peak twice & S.L.C passed can be candidate for liaison Officer, The committee is formed under the chairmanship of Everest Summiteers club. The Summiteers who passed S.L.C have to fulfill some other requirement & Training necessity for become a Liaison Officer.

NMIA Team Traces Two Bodies From Paldor.:

A strong team of Nepal Mountain Instructor’s Association (NMIA) and Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA) has traced the bodies of two French Mountaineers from the slopes of Ganesh Himal (Paldor). Four French mountaineers went missing when an expedition to Ganesh Himal (Paldor) was hit by an avalance on October 2006.

 

The search operation found 2 bodies near the Sanjung Glacier (4900m) at the feet of Ganesh Himal. Similarly, some parts of the body were found on the surface of the big avalanche debris. They probably feel down 1,000m from the slopes of Ganesh Himal to the Sanjung Glacier. Upon the request of the family members, the recovered bodies and parts were cremated under a Chhorten with a plate bearing the name of the deceased. The four mountaineers have been identified as Jean-Baptiste Moreau (31), Raphael Perrissin (31), Vincent Villedieu (33) and Stefan Cieslar (37).

 

NMIA had launched the search operation as per the request of the family members of the missing mountaineers. An eight member search team led by Lakpa Norbu Sherpa had searched the area from 23rd of June to 10th of July. Other members of the search expedition were: Lakpa Sherpa, Jymchang Bhote, Lambabu Sherpa, Dorjee Lama, Pemba Gyalje Sherpa and Keshav Gurung. Jean Coudray, Veteran French Guide and mountaineering instructor, was the search operation leader of the expedition.

Adventures of the Year 2008.:

Mr. Pemba Gyalje Sherpa, Member, Instructor of NMIA received the Adventure of the Year (Heroism) Award from National Geographic Society/Adventure Magazine, on Nov 20th 2008 in Washington D.C.

 

On August 2008, He successfully rescued two mountaineers (Marco Confortola of Italy and Wilco van Roijin of Nether land) from Mount K2 during the massive Avalanche.

 

On be half of NMIA, We wish him every success in the field of Alpinism.

Our Instructor member, Mr. Pemba Gylze Sherpa Successfully Summited Mt. K2 on 1st of August 2008, without using supplementary oxygen, on be half of our Association, we wish him every success in the field of Alpinism.

 

 

Mountaineering Training.:

Nepal Mountaineering Instructors Association, Conducted first ever Pre-Basic Mountaineering Training in Khumbu Region, conducted jointly by this Association and High Altitude Dreams PVT. LTD., From: 23rd June 2008 to 31st July 2008 in Khumbu region, total Number of participant are 14. Instructors are Lambabu Sherpa (Chief instructor) and Krishna Bahadur Gurung (Instructor) of NMIA.

 

Congratulations.:

We would like to congrats Mr. Sunar Bahadur Gurung, our member Instructor and President of Nepal National Mountain Guide Association, for his successful completion of final International Federation of Mountain Guides Association (IFMGA), guide course from France, on 28 June 2008. Mr. Gurung is the first Nepali Instructor/guide, who achieved the international mountain guide carnet of IFMGA .

 

This association is heartily congratulate to Mr. Gurung for his success and dedication.
