Membership Requirements
for NMIA Mountain Rescue Team:-
Prospective members must in excellent physical
condition, and have recent backpacking, mountaineering or
equivalent outdoor and high mountaineering experience. As a
minimum you must be self-reliant and comfortable on the
terrain and under the conditions in which we must operate
rescue & search operation. In addition, we look for
characteristics which enable a person to become an effective
rescuer - motivation, maturity, stability, tenacity,
leadership, and the ability to work well with other people
under stressful conditions.
Specialized emergency rescue teams must be
composed of disciplined, highly trained. The lives of fellow

each member performing capably in exhausting situation. For
this reason, each Trainee must meet the minimum requirements
shown on the training requirements. All training is provided
by the National and International Expert except the medical

during regular Team training evolutions. Trainees may
participate in operations, however, after completing a basic
and advanced Mountaineering training courses and fulfilling
certain other requirements. Although certain members may
specialize in one or more subjects, we expect all Rescue
Members to be competent in all skills, since we never know
which will be needed in any situation.
All team members are trained in a planned syllabus that covers the
following Trainings:-

Importance of High Mountain Rescue Training
We know that our country is well known for beautiful Himalayas
as well as one of the best holiday and adventure destination in the
world. Many adventure activities had been taken place since the country
opened for foreign holidaymakers and other adventure activities, which
is the positive aspect in tourism industry.
Naturally when there are more people involved in different outdoors
activities including mountaineering expeditions the chances of the
accidents during the adventure activities is also increased. As we know
that there had been several accidents in different part of the country
each year, which carries out the negative message for the tourism
industry of Nepal. In order to prevent and minimize the risk in
different incidents during above activities, the only option to prevent
and minimize the risk in above mention activities is by providing enough
appropriate High Mountain Rescue training.
Although conducting this kind of course is quite expensive financially,
even so there is high demand of this kind of training in tourism
industry. According to the previous incidents records, we definitely
need to set up the qualified National responsible Rescue team as soon as
possible with affiliation of related Government and non-government
organization.
