The Nepal Mountaineering Instructors Association (NMIA), in collaboration with the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), has successfully conducted the 2024 High Mountain Rescue Training (HMRT) in the Langtang Valley.

Led by NMIA General Secretary Mr. Pasang Tendi Sherpa and coordinated by Training Convener Mr. Riten Jangbu Sherpa, this vital training program is designed to enhance the rescue capabilities of mountaineering professionals operating in high-altitude conditions. The training team also includes a group of highly experienced and dedicated instructors who bring real-world expertise to the program.

Following an intensive one-week theoretical and practical training session held in Kathmandu, the team is now moving to the field in Langtang Valley to implement and refine their skills in real-life rescue scenarios. This hands-on phase is crucial for equipping the participants with the confidence and competence needed for mountain emergencies.

The HMRT program reflects a strong commitment by both NMIA and NMA to improve safety standards in Nepal’s mountaineering sector, ultimately ensuring better preparedness and response in critical rescue situations.

We extend our best wishes to the entire High Mountain Rescue Training Team for a safe, successful mission and continued contribution to mountain safety and professionalism in Nepal.
