Organized by the Nepal Mountaineering Instructors Association (NMIA), the Leave No Trace and Bag Packing Training is a 3-day, 18-hour intensive program designed to equip mountaineers, trekkers, guides, camp staff, and outdoor enthusiasts with the skills to minimize environmental impact and prepare efficiently for wilderness adventures. Conducted in Kathmandu, Nepal, with field sessions in nearby natural areas, this course combines theoretical instruction, hands-on practice, and scenario-based exercises to teach the seven Leave No Trace (LNT) principles and effective bag packing techniques. Participants learn to travel responsibly in Nepal’s rugged landscapes, ensuring environmental preservation and personal safety. This training fosters sustainable outdoor practices and supports Nepal’s adventure tourism industry by promoting responsible exploration.

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
Apply the seven Leave No Trace principles to reduce environmental impact during outdoor activities.
Plan and pack trips to respect wildlife, minimize campfire impact, and preserve natural landscapes.
Select and organize gear for efficient bag packing, optimizing weight, balance, and accessibility.
Pack for various outdoor scenarios, including trekking, mountaineering, and camping in Nepal’s diverse terrains.
Manage waste effectively, including human waste, to maintain cleanliness in wilderness areas.
Choose appropriate campsites to minimize ecological disturbance and ensure safety.
Demonstrate proper equipment maintenance and storage for longevity and reliability.
Assess environmental conditions and adapt packing strategies for safety and comfort.
Collaborate with others to plan group trips with minimal environmental footprint.
Promote sustainable practices and educate others on Leave No Trace ethics.

Target Audience: Mountaineers, trekkers, guides, camp staff, and outdoor enthusiasts with little to no prior experience in Leave No Trace or bag packing
Prerequisites: No prior experience required; basic physical fitness and enthusiasm for outdoor activities are recommended
To enroll in the Leave No Trace and Bag Packing Training, participants must provide:
Photocopy of citizenship or passport
Two passport-sized photos
Insurance coverage: NPR 10,00,000 (accident insurance) and NPR 3,00,000 (medical insurance)
