Overview

Since its launch in 2009 with 2 instructors and 5 participants, the Rock-Climbing Level-1 Training, organized by the Nepal Mountaineering Instructors Association (NMIA), has been a premier 14-day, 84-hour intensive program for beginners and aspiring climbers eager to master foundational rock-climbing skills. Conducted in the scenic Kathmandu Valley and Bimalnagar, Tanahun District, Nepal, this training equips up to 30 participants per session with essential technical, safety, and teamwork skills to climb confidently and responsibly. The program blends theoretical instruction, hands-on practice, and real-world climbing experiences, covering techniques such as knot tying, lead climbing, rappelling, and route setting. Emphasizing safety, environmental awareness, and personal growth, this training prepares participants for advanced climbing pursuits and supports the development of a skilled national climbing community.
